WHAT HOLI IS – Holi is among the oldest Hindu celebrations of the spring season and involves thousands of people from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. Known as the festival of colors, joy, love and fun, during the two-day-long celebration, entire villages sing and dance, throwing colored powder and water at each other.
The festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and the farewell to winter. But it is also a time for gathering and pure fun. It is the day when sorrows are forgotten and forgiven. On this occasion, rigid social structures are also broken down: rich and poor, old and young, men and women celebrate and joke together.
WHAT WE DO – The format consists of throwing colorful, scented powders into the air at the end of countdowns that vocalists or DJs rhythm from the stage, usually cadenced one every hour. And we all dance and “color” together. It is recommended to wear white cotton garments, the powders are natural and non-toxic, they are composed of talcum powder and cornstarch, they do not contain any heavy metal, they are 100% eco friendly and they are purchased inside the festival area, in the official “Holi” booths, a guarantee of the genuineness of the product.
WHO IT’S FOR – For everyone. There is no age limit to participate in Holi the festival of colors, it is open to everyone, young and old. The only “rule” is to have a desire to have fun all together peacefully as the spirit of the Indian festival dictates.
THE HISTORY – The Festival of Colors was born a few years ago from the minds of two event managers from Veneto, the first to bring to Italy the format that has been increasingly emulated over the years. Holi on tour is inspired by the traditional Indian festival and mixes it with DJ sets from electronic to Hip Hop. The Padua and Vicenza beginnings were much talked about on the web, with kissing photos going viral on Facebook and Instagram. Then the format went national. From Rome to Bologna, via Florence and Milan to Venice and Trieste, it touched all over Italy, from beaches to cities. The festival was also featured in the filming of the movie “Forever Young” by director Fausto Brizzi and the phenomenon of the colored selfie has been the subject of sociological study. A real fashion that has depopulated everywhere and that stage after stage has recorded staggering numbers: in seven editions it has totaled more than 650,000 participants of all ages and cultures.
BENEFIT – Besides music and fun, however, what distinguishes the Festival of Colors from other formats that imitate it (on the wave of the phenomenon’s virality) is the solidarity purpose of Fabio Lazzari and Marco Bari, event managers who were the first to import the traditional Indian festival to Italy. And it is precisely to the great Asian state that they turn their attentions: since the festival’s inception, in fact, Lazzari and Bari have been raising funds for the Cittadella-based Forgotten Brothers Foundation, which helps hearing-impaired children in a village in India. The Fondazione Fratelli Dimenticati is a Cittadella-based nonprofit that funds a project in Nandanagar, a village in northeast India where the Ferrando School was established in 2006, an institute that takes in hearing-impaired children with the goal of early intervention in the diagnosis and treatment of deafness through therapeutic paths.

FAQ:
– The powders do not give problems with food intolerances as they are gluten-free and composed of all-natural and organic products. We recommend, however, that you bring eye and/or mouth masks.
– The colors in question being completely natural are absolutely washable. In any case, we advise you not to wear your best garments to enjoy the party more.
– We recommend wearing white clothes to bring out more of the color effect of the colored powders.

IMPORTANT WARNINGS:
▶ The composition of holi powders.
Holi powders are composed of 99 percent pharmaceutical talc, 0.5 percent food coloring, and 0.5 percent natural perfume-they are nontoxic, contain no heavy metals, and are 100 percent eco-friendly, nonflammable, and nonexplosive as evidenced by certificates issued by the manufacturer, an industry with all the certifications to standards that has been involved in the production and distribution of Holi Colors worldwide for 50 years.
▶ Tips and precautions
Holi Colors, being powders, can bother the respiratory tract if inhaled in large quantities, especially if mixed with sweat and thrown forcefully on the body and particularly on the face and eyes: we recommend avoiding inhaling them directly and advise against participation by those who already have respiratory problems.
We recommend the use of protective sunglasses or swimming goggles to avoid eye contact as much as possible and the use of face masks or bandanas, especially for the most sensitive and children.
Although the colors are made from natural and eco-friendly products, they are not edible.
▶ How to clean clothes and body
Holi Colors on a very hot and humid day or if mixed with water can release more food coloring that enters the dilated pores of the skin without doing any damage but making color removal more difficult. The advice is to remove as much of the powder as possible with blowers or by beating the part where present and only then wash off with water and shampoo; it is also advisable to mix shampoo and baking soda and take a couple of showers and then treat any remaining with body cream. The color usually goes away within a few days; do not remove possible stains by mixing multiple chemicals.
